  6. This video, ten years ago, was what introduced me to Biscoff cookies. So many years later, my addiction has progressed to the point that I pretty much buy out my local walmart once a month to sustain my desire for tea-dipping deliciousness. I regret nothing.

  8. This was one of the first vlogbrothers videos i ever watched, and it’s been almost exactly a year since then. They have really changed my life in more ways that i can count.

  15. Advice from someone who worked for an airline:
    1. Put all electronics bigger then a cell phone in one pocket: this will make pulling them out for security so much easier
    2. Wear shoes you can slip on and off easily: so you don't have to fight for a bench after security
    3. Powdered creamer pings as explosives when checked: don't bring it, including hot chocolate mix
    4. Do not own a smart bag: if it has to go under the plane, you will have a difficult time
    5. Do not get a connection under 30 minutes: they close the gates 15-20 minutes early and it takes time to deplane

  21. In Wellington the assholes sell Ben and Jerry’s immediately before international security. So you buy your BJ, and then get told to throw it out after only two bites.

  23. Dear Hank, That last tip saved me big time last year. My flight got cancelled and I immediately called Southwest to try to get on another one. I was one of the last people go get on the last flight that night. When I got to the desk I asked them to print my new boarding pass and the desk guy was so shocked I had gotten on that flight.

  25. bought anything discartable you need in the destination, and trow it or make it a gift before you go back. even you could buy clothes and stuff, just bought the basic stuff unless you want to have to get another luggage. also airports apply taxes to you luggage stuff.

  26. I enjoyed this video, but I must admit, I personally disagree with a couple of these.

    1. I know I have problems with overpacking, but sometimes it's useful! For example, when I studied abroad in England for a month, I didn't have to do laundry even once, which freed up more time for exploring 🙂 Plus I just tend to stress out a lot when I'm packing, so covering every need I think I'll have while travelling reduces my panic levels significantly. Thinning things down too much is only going to make me panic and probably start crying and feeling like my entire trip is going to implode in terrors.

    2 & 3. Agreed, though I actually love airports and sometimes get kind of hyper in them.

    4-9. Yes! The peanut butter thing has gotten someone I know, too! I'm glad they make those mini peanut butter to go tubs that are below the ounce limit. Although, on the other hand, there was also a time when I got through security with an entire twice-the-ounce-limit juice box in my pockets accidentally, so… woops. I really didn't mean to break the ounce limit! So, I just finished drinking it quickly and threw it out (despite already being through security, I still felt awkward with it.)

    10. This is the second one I disagree with, mainly because every moment I'm not on that plane I'm going to be panicking that I'll miss it. I know it's irrational when I'm sitting right there in front of it, but I can't stop stressing until I'm in my seat safe and squared away, so I need to get on the plane as soon as it is my turn just so I can let go of my worrying.

    This is basically a really lengthy way of saying I have a lot of travel-related anxiety and not all of these tips jive with that…

  27. The type of plane also matters.Planes like the 747 have wonderful airconditioning which makes you feel less tired,less jet lagged and you feel as almost as if you are on the ground ( cabin altitude is 5,200 ft when the plane is flying at 35,000 ft 8.6 deifferential pressure)

  34. Seeing everyone line up and hurry to get on boarding has always puzzled me too.. I find the airport way comfier and like to avoid feeling like a sardine as much as possible. Cheers for the great tips Hank 🙂

  41. I know this is pretty old, but I love this video. This is more of a rant, but it could also be considered a tip to make someone else a happier and more pleasant person!
    DON'T recline super duper far (And especially don't fall asleep after doing so) and DON'T regularly and continuously kick the chair in front of you! You'd think this would be obvious. 'XD
